Captain v President Day
July 2019
On Sunday 21st we held a very successful Captain v President Day with 42 players enjoying a friendly battle which this year was won by the Captain's team.
Following the game, we were joined by some of our social members for a lovely meal and get-together.
For entertainment this year, the 8 entries for the president's poetry competition were read out anonymously to be judged.
The standard was surprisingly high, competition was fierce, but Val Knight emerged victorious. Her winning poem can be seen here, and all the entries will be on the social board at the clubhouse.
The Captain and President would like to again thank the members who helped to make this day possible by supplying dishes for the event, helping to serve and clear up afterwards. Particular mention must go to Evette and Colin who spent the whole day helping with preparations.

Norma Goldsworthy - Loyal Service Award
May 2017
After the club drive on Wednesday, 24th May, the club was honoured with a visit from Shan Maylin, president of the Surrey County Women’s Bowling Association.
The visit was to present a "Loyal Service Award" to Norma. It came as a complete surprise to her, as the arrangements had been kept secret from her. Below is a precis of the citation given by the SCWBA president.
"Thank you for inviting me here, today, to honour a stalwart of Reigate Priory, a member of 25 years standing! This lady has been prepared to take on the responsibility of office within the club, being Ladies' captain for 4 years and secretary for ten years. She has repeatedly helped cater at club functions, helped organise various social activities and coached many members new to bowls, seeking tirelessly to promote the club in a very positive light.
Her own bowling ability has not gone unnoticed as she has won the handicap singles once, the drawn pairs 3 times, the 100-up 3 times, the 2-woods 4 times and the Junior championship an amazing 6 times. A wonderful record for any bowler. It is, therefore, with great pleasure that I would like to present the Surrey Ladies Loyal Service Award for everything that such a devoted member has done for Reigate Priory. Please join me in congratulating Norma Goldsworthy.
Well done Norma.”
