Frank Hall Tournament
Reigate Priory succeeded in winning The Frank Hall Tournament trophy together with a cheque for £200 at Donyngs Indoor Bowling Club. The team comprising Barbara and Peter Ingram, Alan Goldsworthy and Pat Wright overcame star-studded local sides, consistently giving strong accurate performances end after end. Having topped their initial league group they went on to beat Warlingham Park in the semi-final and then Monotype in the final. Congratulations to them all !

Captain v President Day
On Sunday 21st we held a very successful Captain v President Day with 42 players enjoying a friendly battle which this year was won by the Captain's team.
Following the game, we were joined by some of our social members for a lovely meal and get-together.
For entertainment this year, the 8 entries for the president's poetry competition were read out anonymously to be judged.
The standard was surprisingly high, competition was fierce, but Val Knight emerged victorious. Her winning poem can be seen here, and all the entries will be on the social board at the clubhouse.
The Captain and President would like to again thank the members who helped to make this day possible by supplying dishes for the event, helping to serve and clear up afterwards. Particular mention must go to Evette and Colin who spent the whole day helping with preparations.
We have successfully achieved Clubmark reaccreditation until July 2020
Well done to everyone involved in making sure that our club continues to be recognised as providing the right environment to ensure the welfare of members and encourage everyone to enjoy sport and stay involved throughout their lives.

Peter Johnson - Hon. Life Member
It is with regret that we have to announce the passing on 14th March of Peter Johnson, one of our Honorary Life Members.
Peter had been Men's Captain during 1999 and 2001, and President in 2005 and 2006. He also won the Men's Junior Championship and Drawn Pairs in 1993 and the Men's Two Wood in 1997.
In recent years he would often visit the Club for a pint on a Monday evening, and enjoyed a bit of banter!
Our condolences go to Margaret, his wife, at this sad time.

Norma Goldsworthy - Loyal Service Award
After the club drive on Wednesday, 24th May, the club was honoured with a visit from Shan Maylin, president of the Surrey County Women’s Bowling Association.
The visit was to present a "Loyal Service Award" to Norma. It came as a complete surprise to her, as the arrangements had been kept secret from her. Below is a precis of the citation given by the SCWBA president.
"Thank you for inviting me here, today, to honour a stalwart of Reigate Priory, a member of 25 years standing! This lady has been prepared to take on the responsibility of office within the club, being Ladies' captain for 4 years and secretary for ten years. She has repeatedly helped cater at club functions, helped organise various social activities and coached many members new to bowls, seeking tirelessly to promote the club in a very positive light.
Her own bowling ability has not gone unnoticed as she has won the handicap singles once, the drawn pairs 3 times, the 100-up 3 times, the 2-woods 4 times and the Junior championship an amazing 6 times. A wonderful record for any bowler. It is, therefore, with great pleasure that I would like to present the Surrey Ladies Loyal Service Award for everything that such a devoted member has done for Reigate Priory. Please join me in congratulating Norma Goldsworthy.
